  10. I recently purchased a USR Sportster modem.  It's one of the new ones with
  11. support for 33.6 Kbps.  It's working great except for one big problem.  It
  12. doesn't always disconnect when I dial into a busy line.  It will just sit
  13. with the busy signal occurring until the NO CARRIER time-out kicks in and
  14. breaks the connection.  And it's not consistent.  The modem will return
  15. the BUSY status several times, causing my comm software to re-dial
  16. normally.  Then, for whatever reason, it will stop co-operating and does
  17. not return.  The number of times that the modem returns correctly before
  18. choking varies.

  20. I exchanged my original modem for a replacement, hoping I'd just got a bad
  21. unit, but the new one is having the same problem.

  23. I'm using the modem on a Macintosh.  I've flipped dip switch 1 down as
  24. recommended for Macs.  My modem init string is the recommended AT&F1.  The
  25. problem occurs with all communications packages that I've tried.

  27. Anyone have any ideas or seen this problem?  My speculation is that this
  28. could be a problem introduced with the new 33.6 ROM's.  Thanks in advance
