- I recently purchased a USR Sportster modem. It's one of the new ones with
- support for 33.6 Kbps. It's working great except for one big problem. It
- doesn't always disconnect when I dial into a busy line. It will just sit
- with the busy signal occurring until the NO CARRIER time-out kicks in and
- breaks the connection. And it's not consistent. The modem will return
- the BUSY status several times, causing my comm software to re-dial
- normally. Then, for whatever reason, it will stop co-operating and does
- not return. The number of times that the modem returns correctly before
- choking varies.
-
- I exchanged my original modem for a replacement, hoping I'd just got a bad
- unit, but the new one is having the same problem.
-
- I'm using the modem on a Macintosh. I've flipped dip switch 1 down as
- recommended for Macs. My modem init string is the recommended AT&F1. The
- problem occurs with all communications packages that I've tried.
-
- Anyone have any ideas or seen this problem? My speculation is that this
- could be a problem introduced with the new 33.6 ROM's. Thanks in advance
- for any information.
-
- Later,
- Keith
